The CPA Canada Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Charles-Antoine St-Jean, FCPA, FCA, as President and CEO, effective July 20, 2020. St-Jean succeeds Joy Thomas, FCPA, FCMA.
Charles-Antoine St-Jean brings to CPA Canada an exceptional track record, strong leadership abilities and a broad array of professional skills. Prior to taking this role, he has served as Chair of the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board since 2017. From 2004 to 2007, St-Jean served as the Comptroller General of Canada.
When he assumes the CEO role in July 2020, St-Jean’s plan is to listen and spend time with the CPA Canada executives and employees, the provincial and territorial partners, and other stakeholders to better understand the challenges ahead for the profession. Thomas informed the Board in 2019 of her desire to transition out of her role having dedicated close to 25 years as a senior leader within the Canadian accounting profession.
